-101 Circumcising babies and infants should be outlawed. It should be a choice what a male does with his own penis, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't think it should be outlawed, but I suppose they do deserve the right to choose when they get older. I imagine not many males would willingly do it though.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why is this such a big deal to some people? I was circumcised when I was a baby and I've never gotten upset about it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's because you're only one person out of billions of people in the world. Some people do care.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I was too, but I never asked for it. If I wanted to be circumcised, I would have chosen to. I don't like how my parents chose to change my body because they don't have the right. Yes, my mother did give birth to me, but I would like my body to be my own. It's MY body, my father could get circumcised, my brother could too, but I would never have chosen to. Now it's way too late and I can't do anything about it...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Really? Only a small majority have a problem with it. It's better for hygeine and can prevent many penis related sicknesses in the child's future

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's probably because you were too focused on all the little legs to worry about the skin.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Its a myth that its better hygene. Those studies that say its good were conducted in third world countries where the weather is always hot and bathing isnt something you can always do every day.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Makes your dick look bigger. Nuff said.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes, because babies need bigger looking dicks? No, it doesn't make it look bigger. When erect you cant even tell the difference since in non circumcised the skin goes back.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Talkin bout later in life but okay.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I was talking later in life for the second sentence and beyond. English really needs a way to distinguish sudden subject changes. >_>

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I understood. Babies don't really have boners I think. And you can sure as hell tell the difference for me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The problem with being circumcised at an older age (such as myself, I was cut only last year aged 20), is the scarring will now be very visible for the entirety of my future sex life. At least when you have it done as a kid your penis sort of "grows into it" to the point where it can be difficult to notice it in some places. Plus having led a life for 20 years without any exposure to the end of my penis (I had a circ for medical reasons, I had Phimosis), the first 2 months after the operation were absolute hell. The pain was incredible. I couldn't wear clothes and spent 2 months in a dressing gown hidden from everyone. The majority of men in my family have had the same medical issue so I'll make sure my kid has it done too to spare him the problem of having it done when he is older and knows wtf is going on. Better safe than sorry.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Your reasoning is fine. My parents circumcised me when I was a child because of religious reasons. I do not have the same beliefs as them now that I grown. So why should I have to live my life circumcised for a cause I do not support? Again, the reason you would get your child cut is medical and is for the best so I am not against you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Today I learned Lex had his foreskin cut off.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I thought everyone knew :P

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't get British news here in America. That kind of things a big deal in Britain, right?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

All my friends have their penises still intact so it's a bit of an interesting thing here yeah :P

by Anonymous 11 years ago

@Anon: Mine was cut too and I'm an atheist but I have no issue with it. The reason? Here in America most girls are used to cut penises, so I'd rather have what's considered a normal penis rather than a weird one. If I lived in Europe it be different.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

To be fair, even if I didn't have a medical issue I would probably have considered circumcision anyway. Even with the scarring I still think it looks nicer than a wrapped up penis. Although good thing I am straight so don't need to be fussy about other peoples penises.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When I was younger, like 7 or 8, I thought circumcision meant they took a butcher knife and chopped off a piece of you dick. I got really mad at my mom for letting them do that to me, until she explained what an actual circumcision is.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If circumcision is outlawed so should getting your kids hair cut, or making any decisions for your baby. Plus circumcision is safer and more sanitary

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hair grows, foreskin doesn't.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Should it be illegal to get your kid a tonsillectomy?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If the tonsil is making the child ill, then yes. Although there are some illnesses that require foreskins to be removed, people can live their entire life with a foreskin and be healthy. If something goes wrong and the boy is still a child, then yes the parents can choose to get a circumcision or a tonsillectomy for the boy.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

@crazyvt22 while I also voted NW your reasoning is terrible. Foreskin removal is entirely cosmetic. I see no problem with it. Much like I don't see a problem with the rich parents using genetic engineering to change other aspects of the child. If circumcision is made illegal so should be all genetic tampering or infant constructive surgery non related to health. And frankly that seems to be a bit much. While making it illegal is too much (in my opinion) people should definitly be more informed. People tend to forget that this kind of stuff is permanent and not the child's choice. I am personally circumcised and don't mind. In fact I prefer it. But some people may not. And if more parents thought about the feelings of the child more may be inclined not too.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Like I said below it actually can lead to deaths as well as bad jobs done with it that make it look mutilated. Not like some kid is going to grow up crying about not being circumcised unlike cosmetic surgery to fix deformities like a cleft pallet.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Genetic tampering is very different from physically cutting off a part of your child's body.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hi. Just came back to say that I've been doing some research and I'm starting to see a lot of problems with circumcision. Especially given the alternative which is do nothing. I still don't know about illegal but I took away my NW because I'm now on the fence.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Maybe I should have mentioned that a certain number of babies die yearly from bad circumcisions.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If circumcising would be outlawed then so should piercing your child's ears as a baby. Right?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sure why not? Tattooing them is already illegal I think, same difference.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I actually think that piercing your kids ears is more ridiculous than circumcising. At least for the latter there can be legitimate reasons, whether they be religious or otherwise. But what legitimate reasons could anyone have for making the decision to poke holes in their kid's head before they're old enough to know if they really want it?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I dont have much an opinion on it since I dont really know anyone whos done that. Only seen one baby with pierced ears before. Its really mostly just a hispanic thing.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

-_- it's not a "Hispanic thing" I've seen white, black, and Asian people getting their baby's ears preirced.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You dont have to be angry about it. Ive only heard of hispanics doing it before so thats reallly only why i said that. Chill

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm actually not angry. I just thought that was a very ignorant thing to say.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Piercing their ears is a little different, since the skin can (and does, if you leave your earrings out for long enough) regrow.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah! And having your umbilical cord snipped when you're an infant is so traumatizing too! I should be able to make that choice with my own weird hose-thing

by Anonymous 11 years ago

There aren't nerves there and it falls off by itself.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You can't feel circumcision either bud...unless you're some freak of nature baby. The only really argument I can see for strongly being opposed to it is if for some reason you have a strange attachment to your penis flap

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah they cry and cry from it for no reason. You really need to take a biology class

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They cry and cry no matter what. It's what they do. It's not hurting them more than a pinch or a poke. If you have lasting impressions from that tiny pain then you were one special baby. I would rather be circumsized as a child and not remember a thing and have a lifetime of penis-washing ease than "decide later" and have someone hack off part of my dick now

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well go get a scalpel and test that theory out on yourself if you really believe that you dont feel it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I kinda just said I'd rather have it done then than now...I know I'd feel it (and remember it) now

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How can you possibly be under the impression that baby's can't feel pain or some shit?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I know they feel pain...I'm not conpletely retarded. But they usually do it when the baby is unconscious and it's just a small amount of pain, it's not like they're repeatedly smacking its head against concrete. And it leads to lifetime of easy cleaning. Whether you want to do it to your baby is up to you but there's no reason to outlaw something just because it hurts a little.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

http://www.circinfo.com/benefits/bmc.html There really are benefits of circumcision over non. Saying that men really deserve to have a choice is fair, but it's the parents choice to give them that choice. Making it completely illegal is a little extremist, it seems to share many traits with the arguments for making abortion illegal, and thoughts of making either illegal is usually out of personal emotional reasons rather than logical ones. It also really bugs me that OP continually jumps to the 'Its only beneficial in poorer countries.' So if suddenly through some mass dictatorial political shift world wide and circumcision became illegal everywhere you'd go 'Yay I get to express my individuality and keep parents from controlling their babies! That totally makes up for the rise in HIV issues in dozens of other countries without MY medical care but who cares!' ?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What? O___o "parents choice to give them choice" if its the parents choice then they don't get a choice if they decide for it. Also abortion is different because a fetus doesnt have a fully developed nervous system and has no consciousness to self awareness or identity and they are still attached to the mothers body. Although yeah its somewhat similar in a way but totally different as well. Also your last point made no sense whatsoever. Why would it be restricted in third would countries? Over there is the only place it belongs and if doctors arent dicking around with baby dick in the states they could be helping out elsewhere where it actually helps instead of impedes.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You are getting emotional, I have a feeling this argument will go to shit. It's the parents choice of they want to let their baby choose to have it later. Meaning it's my choice to either get my kids cut now, or let them choose later in life and it will likely get cut anyways. But I've read it's much more painful and produces more scaring later in life. Fetuses can DEFINITELY have just as much nervous system, identity, and self awareness as a baby on the day it's born, you think they pop out and suddenly have an intellectual epiphany of self awareness? Maybe your post would have sounded less absurd if you clarified it should only be illegal in your country or first world countries, as it stands it sounds like you'd want it world wide if you could. Also 'dicking around'? Really? It's a right the parents have, for medical and religious reasons. It's not cause they get it cut off because they think it'll be fun or amusing, they believe it's best for their child

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Humans have emotions and so do babies who grow up. The idea of emotions being totally useless makes no sense. In the analytical sense the world would also be better off if most people just died to make it not so overpopulated. Im not comparing it to the same thing just using an example. By fetus I meant early stages, late term abortion is illegal anyways. I just meant in first world countries but considering i doubt a third would country majority would show up i didnt think of adding that since i figured i wouldnt have people thinking of that. Whenever i go into too much detail on my posts here people get confused. Using religion is a poor excuse for action. Religion also cuts the clitoris off of girls in some third world countries for similar reasons as male circumcision.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I said emotions are useless? What a weird thing to put in my mouth. Poor argument as I agree with that, more people need to die and natural selection needs to start working again, but there's a difference between mass murder and cuttin something off that has no use, but COULD be beneficial to not have. You figure a third world country wouldn't show up? It needs clarification because illegal circumcision would be fine in parts of Europe, but an outrage and act of pure stupidity on countries like Canada where the circumcision rate is 19 in 20 (for health reasons). See but that counteracts your circumcision argument, cutting of the clitoris does real and disadvantageous damage to a persons life while circumcision does not.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Im not a law maker. Chill this is an entertainment site i dont have to go into that much detail to get across the main point.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

And that, my friends, is how you win an argument on the Internet. You be smarter than the other person

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've never understood how we //still// haven't gotten over male genital mutilation.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Female is worse it seems and still goes on but Im confused why for males its so popular in the US.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

In the US there's the "Female Genital Mutilation Act," so it's not really a problem.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I care about more than just the US though and the fact there is an act against females but not for males is very confusing to me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well considering you referenced the US in the comment before mine, I assumed you would be interested. And yeah, that was my point. Male genital mutilation is now the only problem in the US (relating to the topic).

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I can't believe nobody here has brought up the religious aspect.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Please actually read the comments this time.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I was circumcised and I'm not traumatized or anything... I could honestly care less

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I find it hard to vote either way. "outlawed" sounds extreme, so I'll vote negative. I myself am circumsized (i was raised Jewish) but if I had a son, I would probably elect not to do it. I resented it because it was for religious reasons, and for a religion of which i no longer belong. I also have heard rumors it decreases sexual pleasure. On the other hand, I have heard many people say uncircumsized penises are unattractive. In the end, its alot easier to get circumsized then become uncircumsized so ill let it be my son's decision when he is of age

by Anonymous 11 years ago

As a Brit, I’m literally staggered that the majority here still condone the barbaric mutilation of their own child. The sooner they pass a law enabling boys to sue their parents for grievous bodily harm the better. As a woman who has lived a full life, I can categorically state that sex has ALWAYS been better with a uncircumcised guy. As a medical professional, I can tell you that in modern society there is absolutely no benefit to be gained from this procedure. The drawbacks(sorry, I couldn’t resist it!) are: The foreskin is packed with nerves, & removing it deprives a man a good deal of sensation during sex. The newly exposed skin of the penis, together with the glans, is not designed to be exposed outside of sexual activity, & the touch sensitivity of all the surface nerves will be greatly reduced, even numbed, by the continual exposure to the chafing action of clothing. The glans of the penis is classed as a mucous membrane, which should be kept moist & the drying out of this tissue further reduces sensitivity, & the pleasure it should be providing. The dramatic decrease in penile sensitivity means that many cut guys experience delayed ejaculation. Speaking as a woman, sex with a guy that struggles to reach a climax is just as frustrating as with one who suffers with premature ejaculation. The free movement of the foreskin allows the penis to move within the vagina with very little friction, & a woman’s natural lubrication is ample for the duration of normal sex. One of the biggest sellers in the states is lubricating gel, pretty well essential for sex with a cut guy. In the UK, it is generally only used by post menopausal women. Girls, I beg you: please don’t mutilate your children!
