+231 Adults always think that peer pressure is such a big deal, but it really isn't. If someone actually said "Don't you want to be cool? Just try these drugs, it's not a big deal" then you wouldn't even be able to take them seriously, because we always hear about how "Teenagers will say that to you". amirite?

Yeah, but most peer pressure is subconscious nowadays, although I think that's more the need to conform, which isn't exactly new.

It's not like they explicitly say it will make you cool, but if you're in a culture where drug use is considered cool or more common you will be more inclined to try it, regardless of whether they put pressure on you in an obvious manner.

It isn't a big deal if our friends are peer pressuring us to have coke and ice to be cool. The beverage... not drugs... ok sorry that was a really bad pun.

Peer pressure isn't always that obvious.

its more of a "Dude... dont be a pussy." then a "Do you want to be cool?"

It more like, "want a hit?" and then a look that say take it without comment or I might beat you...

You're right, no one actually says stuff like that. But sometimes it's a little more subtle. Most people, especially teenagers, want to fit in. Sometimes taking drugs or getting drunk helps with that.
