-78 The price of food should be based off of how many calories are in it. This makes sense because the more you pay, the more energy you get, kind of like gas. Plus, it'd be a lot easier to manage your caloric intake because you could just limit yourself to spending $15 dollars on food, or 2,000 calories. Amirite?

Yes, that will make it much easier for people living in poverty to feed themselves the calories they need.

200 calories of top of the line steak and 200 calories of Cheetos probably shouldn't be worth the same

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wait, doesn't celery create a calorie deficit when you actually eat it? Does that mean I get payed to eat celery?..

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Maybe in the future it would be like that, but for now, it won't really work.

Then all water is free and a big Mac is 50 bucks

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Pfft, free water? That's crazy!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's an interesting idea in theory, but it could never work

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Agreed.

Most people don't count calories and try to intake all the correct servings they need, unfortunately.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This is already in the works. 5 kg of steak is worth more than 2 kg of the same steak. This applies to poultry and fruit as well as others.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Obviously a larger portion is going to have more calories, and it's going to cost more. But you can't have a small, easy-to-make, high-calorie food cost the same as a large, difficult-to-make, low calorie food cost the same.

I guess 0-calorie products made for people on diets would go out of business...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm all for making healthy foods more affordable compared to junk foods, but this idea violates so many basic business principles that it only sounds like a good idea until you think for two seconds

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That would make sushi dirt cheap and McDonald's fine dining. What an idiot. I'm willing to bet money that you are American
