I'll write in Ron Paul if I have to. Call it a wasted vote, but it's stupid that people let the news media brainwash them into thinking there are only two candidates worth voting for.
I'm British so my opinion is almost as irrelevant as my non-existant vote on this matter. But, personally I hope people give Obama another 4 years. I really think he has a lot of good ideas for the States and America doesn't need another reactionary Republican president yet. Although I do hear that Romney is actually quite moderate in his actual views, and much of his current rhetoric is for the benefit of grassroots republicans.
My plan was to vote for Obama (not for the reason the post says), and the results of that survey say I side most with him because of healthcare, the economy, social issues, science, and immigration. Not foreign policy, though. Jill Stein came in second for me, and Romney third. Very cool. I'm bookmarking.
Mine said Jill Stein as 84% and President Obama as 83%. Since I'm 17, I can't vote, but I'd vote for Obama because one percent isn't that much of a difference.
I'll poanaly vote for Obama but to say I can't stand Romney is a little ridiculous. I think he's a nice smart guy and he has some ideas I agree with. I just happen to agree with obama more. Doesn't mean I hate Romney
ever been to the DMV? when I went there to get my license, I waited in line for 5 HOURS because the same guy who was taking our photos was trying to grade all the permit tests.... BY HAND.
NOBODY grades things by hand anymore because better ways have been invented. Businesses constantly have to innovate and invent things to remain competitive. Hand grading things is the way of the 1800's. but a government-run business like the DMV doesnt have to innovate because they can't go out of business because the government will just bail them out.
you really want universal health care?! it is going to become like the DMV!!! doctors will not have to innovate to stay in business, so they will be using some ancient 1800's medicine because they dont have to spend money on actually good supplies to stay in business. They will have NOOO incentive to discover cutting-edge technology that their competitors dont have... BECAUSE THERE WILL BE NO COMPETITORS!
america is the only country I know that people actually COME TO to get treatment... and that is because we have all the cool inventions. people from canada come here to have operations. we dont go there... coincidence?
Right, so Canadian medical innovations happen because...?
And bottom line: Sure, you've got to wait a couple hrs in the ER for a broken arm, but if you need help for anything life threatening it's there.
And I would take that ANY DAY over the stress of having to pay for expensive cancer treatments. When your sick, you should concentrate on getting well, not selling your house or spending retirement funds.
And if I'm not mistaken, we still have private practices. They compete for research but are subsidized by the government so the patients pay nothing and there is still incentive.
The Canadian healthcare system is met with many problems.
For example, Between 1998 and 2008, approximately 11 percent of physicians who had been trained in Canadian medical schools relocated to the United States – mainly due to financial considerations. Because doctors’ salaries in Canada are negotiated, set, and paid for by provincial governments and are held down by cost-conscious budget analysts, the average Canadian doctor earns only 42 percent as much as his or her American counterpart.
Of Canada’s approximately 33 million people, at least 800,000 are currently on waiting lists for surgery and other necessary medical treatments. Between 1997 and 2006, the median wait time between a referral from a primary-care doctor for treatment by a specialist increased from 9 weeks to more than 18 weeks. A study entitled Waiting Your Turn: Hospital Waiting Lists in Canada, conducted by the Vancouver-based Fraser Institute, reports that Canadian health care patients must wait, on average, 17.7 weeks for admission to a hospital.
(continued) Just as Canada’s restrictive policies against privatized health care alternatives have led to a reduction in the number of health professionals, government-imposed price controls have likewise caused a nationwide shortage of certain prescription medications and advanced medical equipment. Even after a new drug is certified by Health Canada, the federal department “responsible for helping Canadians maintain and improve their health,” it takes more than a year for that drug to actually reach the patients who need it. During 2004-2005, it took an average of 439 days for provinces to receive government reimbursement for drugs, forcing patients to wait a very long time for necessary medications. I really want to live under a system that abuses its people that much, and in the name of kindness!!!

Are you familiar with Gary Johnson? He has similar views to Paul but he's running as a Libertarian so his name will be on the ballot.
I'm voting for neither, because i'm only sixteen..

Both seem pretty unpopular, but I'm going for Obama because universal health care fuck yeah
Just come to Canada already. We've got enough goods to go around
My family's been considering it.
Although politically, I'm not so fond of Stephen Harper. We could do better in that aspect.
I up voted this post.
Then realized I was Canadian :(
Woo universal health care!

I wrote all of that on my little iPod. Not bad, eh.
