+207 Classics like Pride and Prejudice, Sherlock, Jane Eyre, & Wuthering Heights should not be put on the same platform as, or rewritten to be more like 50 Shades of Grey, Amirite?

Language can be changed to people understand the book, like maybe changing all the old English in Shakespeare's stuff like on Sparknotes, as long as the originals still exist.

I agree with WideAwake, but there should be versions the general public can easily understand. With all the grammar and word changes, old English is almost another language, and I think more than qualifies as another dialect.

the thing with that argument, WideAwake, is that, at the time it was written, there wasn't another option, aside from writing it in another language. Who knows, perhaps he would have re-written it to keep up with the times.

And since he's dead now, it's our job to produce 'easy-read' editions so most little kids aren't immediately turned off great books..

They make book versions of Shakespeare with modern English on the left side and old English on the right, I had to read Macbeth in this format during my ninth grade year. It keeps the integrity of the original, but doesn't confuse the reader.

I don't think Pride and Prejudice was written that well to begin with. I liked the book, but... I wasn't impressed.
