+158 We really have a hard time understanding people with disabilities and often wonder why they are the way they are. But what we have to realize is that the person with the disability is acting 100% appropriately for how their brain works. amirite?

I just find it so fascinating how there have been so many cases of people who have been shunned and written off as just vegetable pretty much for years. Then they are given a computer/ keyboard and type out the most eloquent and heart felt descriptions on their situation. Just makes you reflect about how we shouldn't judge people by just their exterior.

Do you have any more info on some of these cases?

The human brain is a unique machine.

Also, there was a episode on discovery channel from the show called taboo entitled 'strange behavior'. It talked about two autistic gentlemen that were ridiculed all their life and then started using a computer device. With their new found communication, they ended up travelling the world, sharing their story. They even tutored young boys with the same disability as them!

*mental disabilities People with broken legs don't think it's normal to not be able to walk.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I didn't know people thought otherwise...

I'd agree if you said most disabled people. People like Chris-Chan certainly don't work to their full potential.

Believe it or not but saying "disabled people" is actually politically incorrect and offensive to people with disabilities. I know from my experience of working with people with disabilities. 'This is because people with disabilities do not like to be defined by their disability when they have great abilities that could define them.

Wow Really I don't care My dad had Huntington's and he really just did not give a fuck I didn't say retard at least so get over it. Being politically correct all the time is stupid. I don't care if you're offended, I speak how I want.

Ok

by Anonymous 11 years ago

A sarcastic "ok" because you can't think of an argument that's cool too

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It wasn't a sarcastic ok. Ok was just all that I had to say at that moment. Also, even though your dad doesn't "give a fuck" about his disease, I'm sorry that he has Huntington's.
