+164 The TV show, "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" should be called "Are You As Smart As a 5th Grader?" because the highest question is a 5th grade one. To make their name true, the contestant should have to answer a 6th grade question correctly, amirite?

but aren't the kid contestants all 5th graders?

I thought you had to beat the one fifth grader you pick and use the rest like a life line/phone a friend type deal

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Right. I thought the idea was that you were competing against 5th graders, so that's what would make you smarter than, as opposed to as smart as.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No. You choose one fifth grader for a life line, then replace him/her every second question. You don't actually compete against anyone.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Exactly. The student is a 5th grader, and if you can answer the questions then you're //as// smart as a 5th grader, but the show is calles Are You Smarter //Than// a 5th Grader, so to be smarter than a 5th grader you should have to answer a 6th grade question.

If you really want to get technical though, a 5th grader wouldn't be expected to be able to answer 100 percent of the questions, so if you knew all of them, then you would be smarter than the average 5th grader, hahaha

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They wouldn't be expected to in an average classroom but the point is that they //could// and plus those 5th graders on the show would probably have a grade really close to %100. And honestly, it's not hard to get %100 I used to get above it before shit got hard.

above 100%??

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah. You just pick the answers out of what's given to you in the book or on the paper and if they're not on the paper you can look them up in the book so you don't get anything wrong on your class work, study for your tests and do well you don't even have to get a 100 just do good like a 92 to 98, and do all of the extra credit work because it really adds up.

ITS OVER 9000

I'd like to see those fifth graders solve college-level calculus problems. Then we'll talk about who's smarter.

Or get a job, pay the electric bill or spell the word dyslexia, before explaining the difference between ignore and ignorant, hahaha

Anyone remember the infamous woman on there who was asked "Budapest is the capital of which European country?" and she was confused because she thought Europe IS a country, and everyone speaks French there, hahaha

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I remember that. Kellie Pickler. I literally fell off the couch laughing. hehe

I'm pretty sure all the kids on that show are sixth graders because they have to know all the fifth grade material. Correct me if I'm wrong.

5th Grade my ass! I didn't know half the shit they had on the 9th grade!

That show is so rigged..they only bring the stupidest people on the TV show to ensure they don't win.
