It caught me off guard. I never expected the girl to die. And the part where they said that she won't make it to the afterlife because she didn't have a soul was very surprising, especially for a childrens' movie
Are we talking about the same movie? I'm pretty sure that the girl survived.
Fail.
If she died, I completely missed that part 0.o
Deep breaths, it's going to be okay.
Funny thing is- I have a disassosciative disorder, so it is possible that it was locked away in the recesses of my madness by my inner child- So I would have to agree the subject matter is probably too intense for little kids, but Disney is good about causing children to disassosciate with Trauma- the only difference is it usually happens early on: snow white, Cinderella, Mogli, Aurora, Simba, Bambi, Ariel, Fox and the hound, Bell, Jasmine, Aladin etc= all charachters either estranged from one or both parents, usually by death.

In all honesty, I have no idea what you are talking about.
That's ok. Should not have lumped multiple responses into one reply. Reading the comments above ours would probably clear things up a little bit.
People who didn't watch Brave: You are curious about what happened.
I was a little bit disappointed actually. I expected a more Robin Hood sort of story. Just my opinion.
But the animation and voice acting was amazing; I really wanted to touch her hair.
I agree, the animation was stunning. I didn't expect what happened to the queen to happen, but it worked out well enough.
It's not like the previews ever gave us something to go on- more like "It's Disney.. It's animated... It's coming"
I thought it was too predictable. The animation was absolutely stunning, but I found the story disappointing. Not what I was expecting from a Pixar movie.
Really? SPOILER You expected the queen to turn into a bear? Or you expected everything else after that part?
She asked a witch with a bear obsession to change her mother. Coupled with the father's vendetta against the bear that took his leg, what else could you expect?
The subsequent revelations made by the mother after seeing her daughter in a new light were rather trite as well. That story has been told many times before.
I see what you mean.
After researching this twice and seeing it in the theater- THE GIRL DOES NOT DIE. She thinks her mother is dead- but she is not.
