+301 It's strange to think that hundreds of years ago, many people went their entire lifetime without ever having laid eyes on a black person, or even an Asian or Native American, amirite?

A lot of people in third world counties have still never seen people with different colored skin.

It goes both ways. When the Europeans came to Australia, the Aboriginals thought they were spirits from the heavens since they were so pale. Of course, that couldn't have been further from the truth, since the Europeans ended up killing them until almost the whole race was wiped out.

Many people nowadays haven't seen people of different races, either.

My friend Dorry didn't meet a black person until she was 7. She told him, "Boy, you've been in the sun too long!"

Yup. I know someone who went to Japan (small town, though), and people literally reached out to touch her hair - they've never seen blond hair before.
