+263 Having a style that fits a certain stereotype doesn't make you fake if you're dressing a way that //you// like. It becomes fake when you dress that way because you want to fit that stereotype, amirite?

Just don't be surprised if you dress at a metalhead and people assume you're a metalhead. Same with emo style, goth style, scene, hipster, etc. etc. Clothes express a lot about a personality for most people, and stereotypes exist because people fit into them.

I agree you shouldn't be surprised if you get passed off as that stereotype, but I think there's a difference between being labeled and being called fake. I mean, I look like a scenester. I'm not going to particularly care if someone calls me that because I know that's what I look like. I do have a problem if someone calls me fake //because// of the way I dress/style my hair. I don't go out of my way to look at what all the scene kids are doing and hang on to their every word, I just happen to have that style.

I used to have dreads when I was 15 and a lot of people thought I was fake >.> I just liked the fact I didn't have to do much to my hair (except when they were just forming, I had to upkeep them every couple days)
