After someone insults you in an argument, it's pointless to even read the rest of what they have to say, let alone respond to it. If they think you're an idiot they're obviously not going to take anything you have to say seriously, so why bother, amirite?

I'll keep replying, unless the person I'm talking to shows FULL ON transparency to the fact they truly don't give one fuck about what I have to say. Your responses do still serve as a model for others who are actually willing to listen. It's not always that futile. Edit: And I don't think one little ad hominem translates into being transparent about all of that. Simply one insult just isn't that discouraging to me.

I really wasn't trying to insult you by calling you one dimensional... it was more of an observation. And it's not even an insult, some people are just that way. You seem to see things as they are and take them for face value. I on the other hand tend to glean into stuff and end up taking out something that may not be there.
