Now that I think about it, it could be that men age so early (given the larger difference between a 13 year old and an 18 year old in guys than in girls) that when a guy is 18 he's already 'aged' and that 'aged' look become associated with youth instead of old age.

Nah, it's just that women are expected to look seventeen for all eternity. Men get older, we just glorify it more.

It's just a lot more noticable for women then for men. You see a lot of older males in movies and shit looking all old, but females in movies could be actually 25 years old but they're playing a mother who's in her 40's.

Oh wow, usually I think it's the opposite. I've noticed that they always have older people playing //younger// characters. Like Teen Wolf or Pretty Little Liars (sorry, very mainstream). All of the cast in those shows are in their early and mid twenties. It's ridiculous.

That's not fair, it had been established that Madonna has not aged very gracefully. Look at Meryl Streep, 63 and still a babe.

I wouldn't call her a "babe,", but you have a point, she's certainly not ugly. Still, I've never heard a guy say "OMG Meryl Streep is so hot!", but I have heard girls say this of George Clooney. But, to be fair, Streep is more than a decade older.
