+292 It is ridiculous for an airlines policy to prohibit unaccompanied minors from sitting next to male passengers on a plane. amirite?

Seems legit. Because someone is man, there's a good chance they're going to rape little kids in public.

Honestly it's probably a result of most parents complaining/requesting it.

As sexist as it may sound, I suppose it does give parents a peace of mind.

This is actually a rule?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well I guess it sucks for females if the child is misbehaving.

having been an unacompanied minor more than I would say 15 times, on plenty of different airlines and having family working in the airline business, I can say this post isn't true. Parents can request it, but it is by no means a rule.

It might just pertain to some airlines or some countries. The link posted up there is from a UK blog.

That's ridiculous, as if women can't be paedophiles. I was an unaccompanied minor once and sat next to a man. He didn't seem like a paedophile, but then again I was one ugly 12 year old.

It is ridiculous, but when I was eight, I sat next to a male passenger while flying to California by myself, therefore, this isnt really all that valid. Another instance: on a different flight to California, me and my little brother were flying alone, but in different parts of the plane cuz I technically still count as a unaccompanied minor, and we both sat next to male passengers to and from California.

Do you mean it's not valid because unaccompanied minors can sit next to male passengers? Because the post it referring to airlines where that it is a policy. They posted a link and it was talking about airlines in Australia, I believe.
