Just tell them you don't want to talk to them... "hints" don't work on some people.

My sister and I were trying to watch Community on her laptop and we were watching it with headphones so we wouldn't disturb anyone. Every time we would press play (after waiting the appropriate amount of time after someone talks), someone would start talking to us seconds later.
