I kinda thought that maybe this was supposed to be a joke about the revolutionary war? But it did help, they did much better than usual.

I hope so. That's why I thought it was funny.

Would be embarrassing for you if you didn't win considering the size/population of USA. GB did incredibly well thanks to hard training and amazing support from all us brits.

Pathetic excuse.

@Anon what the hell are you talking about. The ONLY time GB was top of the medals was 1908. It's NEVER expected of team GB to even be in the top 5! In Beijing we came 4th and in London we came 3rd. We're a small competing nation, and we absolutely blew all the other small countries away. It wasn't such a colossal gap between the top 3 in fact, when you look at it. The team did amazingly well!

Yeah but how many golds did Aus get? For a great sporting nation they didn't do SO great. And they made many attempts to make Britain's total look lower by using such methods. They HATE it when Britain beats them at stuff. Case in point, Rugby World Cup 2003 in Aus - England beat Australia in the final. Oh man! They couldn't take it! Wooo. They tried to say (a poorly veiled criticism made to look a joke) that Great Britain was only doing better than Aus because we weren't competing as one nation! But as 4 nations combined. That's bull. Proves their ignorance.
