+202 You would give money to a nice homeless person with a sign "$ Extra Change? $", but not to a passive aggressive person with a sign "It's okay, you enjoy your pay... I don't need your help.", amirite?

I'd steal the passive agressive sign and say" Well, now you don't have a sign either. Go fuck yourself"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The other person doesn't need my help though...

Well I would give to both because chances are the passive aggressive homeless man doesn't realize how passive aggressive he is being. Or well maybe he does. I guess I'm just a giver.

Do you want a medal to celebrate what a magnificent person you are?

That's what I came here to say... if you're a giver you give, without making up excuses. If you don't like to give, then you'll come up with excuses like op not to give.

I think I would be happier to see someone with a sign that says "seeking odd job for money". Then I might hire them to mow my lawn or paint a room or something. Working > begging. And give people food rather than money, so it doesn't get wasted on drugs/cigs/alcohol. Not trying to paint homeless people with broad strokes; there are some good ones and some bad ones, but I like to be on the side of caution

I would order them some food from somewhere and sit down with them and have a chat to see what it's like on their side. I've always wanted to do that but I've never had the time to go to a big city to do that.

Kind of like this guy? http://www.npr.org/2008/03/28/89164759/a-victim-treats-his-mugger-right

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Kind of, but without the whole mugging ordeal.

I wouldn't give money to either. Basically, if you live in America and you're homeless, you fucked up pretty badly and you deserve it. *waits for downvotes*

I don't give money to homeless people anymore. There are too many scam artists making thousands a day in the city where I live. Also I remember when I was little and my dad bought a homeless man a burger and he threw it back at my dad; he didn't want food, he wanted money to buy booze. I think people are better off donating to homeless shelters if they really want to help.
