Imagine if stories didn't get passed on. And we just went back thousands of years before language, mathematics, and everything else. The human species would begin to grow again but under much different conditions. As they migrated to other areas of the world they would come across full cities in ruins and have no idea what they were or how they got there. Imagine finding Mt. Rushmore with no idea who those people were or how it was made, but they quite obviously looked exactly like you. I guarantee stuff like that would spark some seriously crazy religions.
