I've never heard that before. (I've never heard any real numbers before, but that's because infinite expansion just isn't all that interesting to me in comparison so I haven't looked in to it)
I think you were being defensive because the figure in your post was made-up, even if it was based on an established theory, and you were (politely) called out.
I never once said that you were an incompetent fool, nor do I believe you to be one. I simply said it wasn't a recent discovery because it sounded like you were saying it was. So my apologies there if that's how it came off.
Unfortunately amirite has a terrible mobile link service and it is zoomed in almost all the way making it tough to read. So I'm going to have to get back to this later bit I'm really looking forward to it.
I don't think you forgot your own intentions; I think you were being dishonest. I wouldn't have judged you at all if you had just admitted that one billion isn't the exact number, but pointed to the information that says it's really, really big.
Don't you think I would have googled it before I asked? I did an I never saw this number. I was asking for a source that gave me this number. Also the expanding universe isn't a recent discovery.
What exactly do you want sourced? The theory? If so, simply google the expanding universe theory. There are recent postings by science communities. My apologies, I'm on my mobile phone at the moment.
Oh did I? I'm sorry. I guess you do know me better than myself. The fact that I was on a mobile app and couldn't answer his question right away might have contributed to my action. Also, it's just a general statement. I gave a source with some further insight on the topic.
Thank you for assuming I'm an incompetent fool. Yes, Obviously it wasn't recently discovered but scientists are posting new findings/theories. Since, you know, the theory was discovered in the 20th century they didn't have the technology available today. They're working on discovering a function on acceleration. The only thing I can find is that the universe doubles in size every 10-35 seconds. Acceleration rate is faster than the speed of light.
i love reading comments.

Can you give me a source?

Don't be defensive; it's perfectly reasonable to ask for a source, especially when the information is even deemed by you to be "mind-boggling."

But you intentionally misinterpreted his question to avoid saying that you pulled the number out of nowhere.

Sorry if that came off rude. I don't doubt it much at all. Hell. The speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second!

I think you misunderstand what I was being defensive about.
No... I was offended that he thought I believed the theory was recent.
