-196 Blind people can't be racist. amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's an interesting point. But I think they could still be bigoted and prejudiced towards people of other cultures or belief systems. But I'd never thought of the pure race issue, that's really interesting!

This post reminds me of Dave Chapelles KKK skit.

You can normally tell someone's race by how they talk/sound.

I doubt someone who can't see would be able to cordinate someone's voice with their race.

My dad just said the same thing, but he also added "How they smell." he was then smacked in the back of the head.

but if you were blind from birth you would never really know - many prejudices are born from outward appearance. I think it's fair to say they could be less racist, in that they could never judge someone from the color of their skin - i'm pretty sure that's what the OP is getting at. having said that, as i mentioned before, the blind can still be incredibly prejudiced in other ways.

My asian friend was raised here. She has a pure american accent. Same with myself and many many others.

@mchalla3 - That's why I said "most"...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But you didn't say most...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh, wow... meant "normally."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh lol. Then in that case, sorry

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If they had become blind after having been able to see then they could be.

What about accents.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

only would work as a rule of thumb - in Beijing, I have ethnic chinese friends born in the US, UK, Ireland and Germany. They all have accents from those places. Also, with western nations being so multicultural, you'd never know what race someone was based on an american/british accent (for example). You'd only be able to guess. And finally, this theory relies on one being familiar with nearly ALL world accents in order to figure it out.
