+159 Perhaps it is not simply having desires that is inherently evil, but letting oneself become consumed with those desires. Amirite?

What if I told you This was only homepaged to see the reactions to this overly thought out post?

I don't think it's "overly thought out". Actually I had been meditating on the beliefs of Buddha after reading the Dhammapada as I fell asleep. I never liked the idea of no desires and it bothered me. As I awoke, this idea was in my mind. Maybe it's letting yourself be overtaken that's the problem instead of having desires, period.

Yeah, I agree. I can see how desires could be a cause of suffering, but without *any* desires what would we have left? Everyone must desire something, we just need to discern things of value and desire such things, without going overboard

I think you need to learn the definition of inherently.

in·her·ent ( n-hîr nt, -h r -) adj. Existing as an essential constituent or characteristic; intrinsic. I think you do, sweetie. I used it as intended. I said having desire in and of itself is not irrevocably(aka, inherently) evil. What's your point?get over yourself.
