+172 It's sad when people are capable of reading, but choose not to. I'm sure a lot of illiterate people in the world wish they could read, but can't. Seems like it is kind of a wasted mind, amirite?

Some people just don't enjoy reading. It's not a shame. It's a personal preference.

If anyone reads this that doesn't enjoy reading, would you mind telling me what about it you don't find satisfactory? It's fine if you don't like reading, I just don't understand it. Is there a specific aspect of it you don't enjoy? Does the idea of spending hours on a book seem a waste of time to you? I'm genuinely interested.

Personally, it's not that I don't like reading, but that I have very specific preferences. That with the fact that it takes me a long time to get into something makes it kind of hard to pick up any old book and start reading. Also, there are very few fiction books I enjoy because I feel like fiction is a bit of a waste of time because if I want to be entertained with something fake then I'll watch a movie or TV. I'm sure I come off as an impatient moron or something but those are my personal reasons.

I could say the same thing about doing math equations or something like that for fun. Just because you have the ability to do it doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of your free time doing it.

I kinda agree with this, but then again it's personal preference. I don't read proper books often, but that's only because I don't have time. One thing which I do hate though is when people are like, 'omg I hate books! Reading is dumb!' and stuff. Reading's not dumb or nerdy. And tbh most people who say that don't legitimately hate books, they just didn't read the right one.
