OK, I wasn't going to reply to this, but apparently an anon used my name to make a comment because the anon thought it was funny. So May Day (workers' solidarity day) is celebrated by a majority of the world, and Americans are pretty much the only ones celebrating Labor Day which (perhaps not by coincidence) falls on the exact opposite side of the year. Instead of being about solidarity with workers who are exploited and oppressed, Labor Day is a watered-down version of this, claiming to "honor" workers, which is kind of superficial. Attempts to make May 1 an official holiday in the US have been unsuccessful, even though it is a nationally recognized holiday in most other countries.
