-12 It's ridiculous that a small drink at most resaurants is bigger than a single can of pop, amirite?

Where do you live, 1965? It's called soda these days.

I'm from Washington. I debaited whether to write soda or pop because i know soda is the more accepted term. But I decided on pop because that's what I call and most every one I know.

It should be called sodapop. ... The Outsiders, anyone?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Where do you live? Everyone I know uses both terms...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's not ridiculous, its more bang for your buck.

maybe i should have made it clearer that i ment that its ridiculous we are encouraged to think that that amount of pop, or should i say soda, is a "small" serving. Especially considering how many calories are in pop with so little nutrition.

Well I don't think restaurants //encourage// us to think that much soda is small, quite the contrary actually. Correct me if I'm wrong but restaurants want us to think that we are getting large portions, and for good value. Pop/soda does contain enormous amounts of sugar/ calories e.t.c but it's not the restaurants fault for serving it, its the fault of the people without any sense of self control and ergo consuming it like crazy because they are getting a good deal wary

well this post come from two different things in my life and maybe if i explain why it will help you understand better. People always say how bad mcdonalds is for you, which drives me crazy. Theres a ridiculous stereotype that mcdonals food is so much more unhealthy than any where else. But the thing that is unhealthy, like every where else, is the portion size. Its also the fact that, at least at mcdonalds, a SMALL drink is about the same amount of calories as a cheeseburger if not more. The second thing that inspired this post was the astonishment I felt when I wanted something to drink with my panda express the other day and size that was considered "small" was about 15cm tall and 4cm radius which would hold 1.5 to 2 cans (maybe more) of soda in it depending on how much ice you put in. And to address your point of people feel like they get more for their money, if you decrease the size you could decrease the price by a proportional amount so it still seems like the same good value.

Why would you be upset that you were getting more drink? If you think it's unhealthy, get tea or water.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

they did have tea or water and I didn't want that much because i knew i wouldn't drink it, and ended up throwing half of it away.

In defense of the restaurants, they completely fill their cups with ice by default. I'd say you probably get about a can's worth of soft drink in a small.

Fair. But not always.
