+157 The concept of a black hole is an extremely scary thought, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It scares me so much thinking that something so powerful and dangerous exist.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Not really, since it's not really actually relevant to my life, you know what i mean?

But it is, it's just so had for us to comprehend, and so hard to think about. There is no way (as far as I know) to predict when one may appear. We could all die next week, for all I know. It's easier to choose to ignore them though.

We could all die next week anyways. Black holes don't scare me, they don't just randomly appear, it happens when a star collapses on itself after being around too long (I think) and our sun is far too small to become a black hole. Even if it did, it would be so small, and we'd be so far away, we'd just continue to orbit it. (Again, I think. I'm not too sure about all of this, so don't quote me on it :p) It can be very complicated how they work, so I'm not going to type any more info in this comment. But black holes are nothing to worry about.

That's what I meant except I was too lazy to write it all/think of what i meant. props. y

Our galaxy's black hole has helped sustain and form our galaxy. Many scientists believe every large galaxy has a black hole in the center. Chances are you won't be sucked into one in your life time, and even if you did I imagine it would be painless.

Funny, I'm watching the science channel now, (because that's what cool people do) and as we speak, they're talking about how, if a black hole were to suck you in, the theory is that you would be immediately incinerated, but you would still have the illusion of being alive and have a sensation of falling. What a pleasant way to die.

And now reading this again, I sound like a bitch. I have a tendency to do this sometimes, Sorry about that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I didn't think you sounded like a bitch at all. Is it the one where they have little cartoon people in a black hole and show the person in the black hole kinda just... chillin? Cuz to the observer they don't see them as being sucked in?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nah, it was some other sciencey thing.

I actually read somewhere that you'd be stretched until you just basically broke, because once you get in it, the closer to the center you get, the greater the gravitational force on you. So if you fell head first, your head would be pulled in so much faster then your feet that you'd be stretched apart. Still, pleasant way to die :P

Oh my.

Unless you're reeeeeeeeally tall it'd happen insanely fast though. Also, since light can't escape a black hole, people watching wouldn't ever see you die! You'd just kind of eventually start moving reeeeally slowly, and then eventually just hover. Idk much more then that though like how long you'd just be hovering there. You should research it, it's actually really interesting.

Yeah, I think I will.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah, that's why I don't date black girls...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh, come now, you could've made a much better joke than that. There's so much material that comes from black holes...well, //into// black holes, I guess.
