+79 It's interesting how the same amount of time can seem very short or very long depending on what happens in it. For example, if you're going on vacation Monday-Friday, you wouldn't say on Sunday night, 'It's only five days until I get back!' But if you live away from your parents, haven't seen them for months and are going to visit on Friday, you would say on Sunday night, 'It's only five days until I see them!' amirite?

5 days is 100% of your vacation, of course you're not going to say "it's only 5 days till I get back" cuz you'd still be on day one. If you haven't seen your parents in months, 5 days is a small fraction of that time so it's "only 5 days".If you went on vacation for a couple months, you'd say "only 5 days till I get back!" If you were leaving your parents for 5 days, you wouldn't say "only 5 days till I get back!" How you fill the time has nothing to do with it.
