-9 All barbeques should have good lighting on the fire so that food is able to be checked during the cooking process to prevent raw chicken and fish being served and having wives throw-up, amirite?

Or you could cook the chicken in the oven first then just finish off on the BBQ

Do people do this?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yep, you could ... but for me there's nothing as frustrating as looking at the meat in silhouette! The light can always go off when the cooking is done and the logs are chucked onto the fire for a sing-song (or something)

Hence why all the "manne" use headlamps while braaing hehe

That would require high heat, and cooking something on high heat or not through the whole time will effect the quality of your food. In this case, it effects it negatively unless you raise the temperature to seer it or something. Either way a consistently high temperature is not good for grilling most things.

Were you referring to the chicken in the oven there? I dont cook chicken on a high heat, i cook it slow and long (like most other meat) so it is done in the oven long before needed, then just heated through on the BBQ

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No I wasn't. I was referring to cooking something on fire hot enough to light up the food you're cooking.

To cast light on I should say. Light up makes me think of lighting something on fire... like a joint... brb
