Although it doesn't mean they don't appreciate it, it's hard to take someone who says "music is my life," seriously when they don't even play an instrument. Amirite?
That's like saying those millions of fans who sit by the tv watching every one of their favorite sports teams game, knowing every player, every play, ect, don't actually love that sport or team because they don't actually play for it
I'll be damned if you tell me football doesn't take up my entire life. I watch it all day, talk about it with all my friends and family, I' m majoring in sports medicine, I'll spend hours on youtube watching videos of great plays, hours looking at new cleats or gear online, and when I'm not doing that I'm thinking about it. Just because I don't coach or play doesn't mean its not my life
There's nothing to correct. Football is your life because your job and other hobbies are so closely related to it. OP and Blacklights are talking about people that say that music is their life but only listen to One Direction or whatever is on the radio when they go to work or school.
You may recognize these people that post lyrics to some song on Facebook and make some "deep" comment so they seem smarter.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. It's these faux deep girls in my grade who get their parents to buy them expensive guitars that they don't touch or know how to play, just to impress people. I'm not even joking, that's what this one little group of wannabe Tumblr/hipster girls did. I found it pretty sickening as I worked for months waitressing to afford my guitar.
I know I play music about twice as much as most people I know and I wouldn't even say music is my life because I don't plan to go anywhere with it other than a hobby.
Or when they can't read music. Or analyze a chord. Or make any music of their own.

yeah I realize it and I'm not attacking you either. I'm just correcting you.

What about dancers? It wouldn't be the same to dance without music.
singers who don't use autotune. I do agree with wobbuffet though, you should be able to read music/analyze a chord
