+80 You should not idolize a person in death. You should respect them as much as you did or would have in life, because making a saint out of them in death causes it to make their death seem more important than their life, which is offensive, amirite?

But it's not the fact that he died that is important, it's the things he did in life to make himself die that are important

It's the thing he did to kill himself, which would mean nothing if he didn't die. For example, if I try to jump off a bridge but it didn't kill me, it means nothing. If I die, it adds meaning. His death brought meaning to what he did in life.

That's a good point, but I think that the reason his death is important was because he would do something so radical knowing it would kill him, making it I think equally important
