My dad was prescribed prescriptions specifically for the side effects they give

You're quite right. I've had to take Ritalin when I was younger, which made my OCD a lot worse. So for that I had to take Prozac with it as well. This combination made me lose a LOT of weight in a very short period of time, make my whole body shake, faint, puke every morning and made me feel emotionally flattened out. I decided to stop taking them overnight and I have never felt better.
