+100 It's sad how adults will refuse to explain their reasoning for something "because I'm the grown up you're the child I don't need to explain myself to you." I understand there's times where you may not have time or you simple can't explain that to a child, but for the most part, you are doing them a great disservice by refusing to explain yourself. Not only do they miss the opportunity to learn from seeing a logical thought process, you make them feel about this big --> I I, amirite?

"Because I'm the grown up and you're the child I don't need to explain myself to you" Because you are a child, you don't deserve to have this explained to you. Just because you're a child, that's the only factor. I don't care if it's frustrating, I will be frustrated if I explain this to you and your emotions are less valid than mine, so are your thoughts and your right to question and know why things are being done to you. That's what that says to a kid, and that's generally how the adult feels.

I think sometimes the child literally won't understand even if you explain, and the parent should certainly explain to the best of their ability but sometimes it's just easier to understand when they are older. I think you are overestimating children on this one

Like I said, there are some things that simply cannot be explained to a child. I've grown up taking care of kids- I have 2 nephews 4 nieces and 6 younger cousins and my life since I was 7 years old when my first niece was born has basically been dedicated to them, I've even gotten kicked out of a school because I missed too many days watching them, and in my experience people severely underestimate what they're capable of understanding. When put in simplistic terms, I've gotten an 8 year old who I'm pretty sure isn't a child prodigy to understand the concept of wavelengths and why the sky is blue and sunsets are orange.
