+100 It's extremely stupid that people complain about how the cast of Girls is pretty much only white. If it were any other race, no one would say anything, and if they did it would just be praise because of it. Its 2013, no one should really care about race. Amirite?

I agree that some people overreact and say things are racist when they're not and racial prejudice is not as bad as it used to be (at least where we live) but it can still get pretty bad elsewhere and there are some places in the US I mean look at the KKK (unless they've changed because I don't really keep up to date with them)

I think the KKK keeps to themselves more now but they're still there and they still hate black people.

If race really didn't matter, then the cast wouldn't be all white. And the non-white characters wouldn't be token characters or stereotyped to their race. It's hard to hear, but even though its 2013, the world still has a long way to go before no one cares about race.

Actually, if there is a show where the cast is all some non-white race, depending on how they're portrayed there might be some people who would be critical of the show for that reason.

The reason it sucks that Girls is all white is because so many show/movies have only, or mostly, white casts. If all races had equal representation no one would be complaining. And you can use the "but they weren't paying attention to race at all thats why everyones white" excuse all you want, but the fact remains over half (and i think the number might be as high as 70% but im not sure) of casting calls specifically ask for white people. And yeah, race *shouldnt* matter, but until we live in a completely racist-free society, it will.

I'm not saying they were racist for pointing it out, I'm saying they were racist for using it against the show and Lena Dunham. Of course it's gonna be mostly white because it's written by a white person and there's just a lot of white people in the world. I just don't understand why that's a bad thing.
