+47 Some books use the second-person narrative. You walk into the alley. You get jumped. You never go back to that alley again. Books with this point of view can really make the readers feel more involved in the storyline, amirite?

Second person stories are right up there with passive voice and using Comic Sans in professional writing in my opinion.

The stories I've read that used second-person specifically addressed the character, not the reader. My favorite one is actually a Harry Potter fanfiction, where the character addressed is Bellatrix Lestrange: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5671275/1/

The you doesn't address the reader But it does make me feel more involved

I supposed that it could make some people feel more involved in the story, but I personally don't like it.

I read one of those once. I can't remember what it was, but I remember feeling more involved, but at the same time I kept thinking, "No, I'm pretty sure I never did that..." It's like watching one of those red/blue 3D movies. You feel more immersed, but you can never say to yourself, "this isn't a movie, it's real" I find it better when the author gives you a character and you yourself attach yourself to him/her, rather than the author trying to make it like D&D. THAt really only works when you have an actual say in what hapens, like in D&D and those comics that you make choices for. "Open the door, go to panel 2, walk past, go to panel 4" Then again, that also constantly reminds you that you're reading something.
