+81 It's crazy to think about a solar system containing two planets holding intelligent life with the creatures on each planet being aware of the other one's existence, amirite?

Not //crazy// maybe silly. I do it a lot.

I didn't mean you're crazy or silly for thinking about it

....so why would it be crazy?! its like 2 nations.... that have the chance to visit each other once a year and trade and etc..kind cool ..nay? :P

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's not like that at all. There's ton of land of nations on earth, the chances of discovering another nation is high. We spend years looking for any kind of life light years away from us and the chance of there being life near by is way less than the chance of finding a new nation. It's crazy to think about because of all the things that would mean for the two kinds. How religion would be looked at knowing they're not the only life in the universe and thinking only they are created in God's image, how friendly or non friendly they'd be, would they have friends on the other planet? Would they compete for advances in technology or would they collaborate and put their ideas together? When did they discover each other and what things did that change, socially and other wise. Going back to the nation thing, it would be weird if we discovered and entire country that was as advanced as us and we somehow and never been aware of their existence until now.

true true ..and i agree those things are a common question speaking of alien species. p.s. id love if the external intelligent species turn out to be unlike humans and therefore unlike god ;]

The day we discover (or are discovered by) a alien race as intelligent as us is the day sh!t gets real. On the plus side, humans would probably stop making war on each other. That or we'd all try to suck up to the aliens and ask them to destroy our foes.

Or what if we had equal intelligence and very similar problems and lifestyles? I just think everybody imagines aliens being either more intelligent or less intelligent than humans. What if we were the same?

So it would be like discovering a new continent that is already populated by people exactly like us! Wonder what we would do?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No, it would be like that at all. For one, chances are they wouldn't be exactly like us. For two, we know there Are other continents, we've yet to prove there's any other life.

Maybe dolphins or bonobos or octopodes.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What would we do? Try to kill the aliens, of course. Why? Not sure of the exact reason. Maybe they would eat corn on the cob up-and-down rather than side-by-side. Maybe their weekly day of rest is Wednesday.

Maybe they won't speak our language or have a different skin tone they we do, or worship a god we have not met. Who knows, kill them all!
