+315 If blacks and whites are "equal" then the fact that Obama's skin color is dark shouldn't matter because having a black president is equal to having a white president and there was already a 1st president; His name was George Washington, amirite?

It actually does matter because it shows that our country has overcome black racism as a whole ;D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i second that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The fact that he got elected mainly because he is black only shows that people are still racist in a way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

he got voted so that we don't have to face another 4 years of republican chaos

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If that was the case, why didn't Hilary get the Democrat nomination? She was a Democrat and she was significantly better known that Obama. Unfortunately for her, she was white.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Republican Chaos? Aha, that's a good one. You tell me that our country is more organized now than four years ago, I'll tell you that my lawn is purple and my family bleeds green.

Mainly, blacks have become racist towards whites. They feel the need for revenge. Don't get me wrong, what the whites did is terrible. And we deserve 100% equality. But the blacks mainly voted for Obama because he was black, not because he was better for our country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(what the heck...?): Exactly. Reverse racism.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not really reverse racisim. Racism isn't exclusively white. If a black person hates a whiter person because they are white, it is still racism, but I do agree.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Reverse racism" would be not being racist. Racism is discrimination against a person or group of people based on their race. Anyone can be racist.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we have definitely not overcome racism as a whole... not even.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, we haven't totally overcome racism (I doubt we ever will), but it does show that we're taking some steps. We're not all staying stuck in one mindset.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree. Except now, Democrats are calling Republicans racist for not liking him. Repubs are all for equal rights, but some Democrats think, "Oh! Different skin color! Special treatment!" [some. not all.]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's their easy out. Rather than logically oppose Republicans, most [not all] Democrats find it easier to simply point the finger and call "Racist!" It gets more public attention and makes them look better for being nice to the important black man, unlike those nasty Republicans with their opposing opinions just because he's black.

Very true. Tea partiers get bad reputations for being "racist". I've seen tea parties. They're actually very peaceful.

Umm, yes. Hello, welcome to the INTERnet... "Inter" means international, not United States, not GTFO.

George actually wasn't the first president, he was the first under the constitution, but the constitution was not the first attempt at creating a government
