0 Why do we hate our music artists now? Why is there so much *hate* so much disapproval towards them? We used to admire them so much Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston--our super divas--and now music is all about dissing Miley's new wrecking ball music video. Why can't we just appreciate their voices? amirite?

Some of them honestly can't sing and don't deserve praise or our approval. Some of what is performed on awards shows should actually be booed and called lousy. But since the entertainment industry feeds on promoting and selling every single thing it produces, somehow the assumption is made that the fans or public should automatically like it. I personally don't hate any artist, but I know who and what I like when I hear it. It is not wrong to dislike an artist or genre of music.

It's too bad about Miley though. She has an awesome voice. She would get so much more approval if she put on some conservative dress or something, but honestly, it shouldn't make any difference. Her voice is amazing. And that's something too, the entertainment industry. God, when it was about super divas and their super voices, that was great. Does anyone remember Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch? And Jewel? I don't know how pop music has evolved into screaming and wild bass beats and parties that never end. I don't want to diss pop music, but the way the entertainment industry has been pushing it, is just not quality.

That performance and voice she displayed for the MTV awards was nothing short of pathetic. It was not good in any sense of the word. And I don't believe for a second that she has to be miss conservative, but a little dignity and self respect goes a long way. Personally, I like my music and movies to entertain me - not to depict every negative aspect of reality. I never got in to alternative music because of what you said - they scream at me, and I don't want to hear screaming and anger. I see and hear enough of that in my day to day life. And I won't watch any horror flicks or anything on T.V. that gets in to all the gore and graphic nature of killing or getting inside the psycho's mind. I don't care what a psycho is thinking or why. Watching people get hacked in to pieces is not my idea of entertainment. I can read the newspaper or watch the news and learn about more killing than I care to know about. Music artists are more of a full package than the actors/actresses. The actor/actress just has to sell us on their performance or role they play in a specific given movie. The musician has to sell us on their voice and whole person pretty much all of the time. My favorite era of music is still the 80's - classic rock and hair metal. I never get tired of it. I do enjoy the sound of electro house music and listen to it mostly when I am working and want high energy. At night, I enjoy smooth jazz or soft rock. I mix in some country randomly throughout the week, but I just don't get why they have all mostly gone to a pop sound. When I do listen to country, I want it to be country!

There's still a large number of people out there who love Miley's new video and song. Personally, I don't think the song is horrible but the fans of it are acting like it's some evolutionary, powerful statement that's never been said before. I just don't see anything special about it and like 90% of popular songs out there, I'm already tired of hearing it being played on the radio two times every hour. There are so many better songs out there with so much more meaning and also allow different interpretations for each individual who listens to them. I am tired of the Miley-bashers too. At a certain point, the jokes themselves start sounding trashy and lame. Give it a rest already! "LOL!! HUR ASS LOOKS LIEK A CHICKEN BUTT!" Hilarious. I haven't seen that meme a million times already. I just wish people would stop focusing so much on celebrities. I can't help but wonder if some people give their own families and friends as much attention as they do Miley fucking Cyrus.

One thing about the famous to keep in mind - the people (fans) put them there. They don't make it big or get filthy ass rich without a huge following buying their goods. So fans and observers alike have every right to criticize or bash. The same is true of/with our government. The people put them there, so we have every right to take all the shots we want to. When a person becomes celebrity status, part of that gig is the loss of privacy and tons of media attention. Nobody forces them to stay famous or keep making it big. They can bow out any time they wish and live in seclusion and recluse.
