-12 SOCIALISM: Convincing the masses (especially the youth) to believe and accept mediocrity and equality as both desirable and attainable. Amirite?

Obama actually listened to this shit for 20 years. He only left this church when running for office of President. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hPR5jnjtLo

Actually it is the few (still) misguided old-school types who think that capitalism still can exist as it was prior-to and during the industrial revolution. Please review the Citigroup //lost memos// for a better understanding of the evil that economic-conservative are raging onto human society. Old style capitalism is dead in the water and socialism/redistribution is the **only** way humans can survive until a new world order is achieved. Anyone who still believes that billionaires create jobs and that a rising tide raises all boats is so far out in right-field that they can't even begin to find their way back home. http://pissedoffwoman.wordpress.com/2012/04/12/the-plutonomy-reports-download/ Too many conservatives have the wool so far over their eyes it is cutting off oxygen to their brains. Open their eyes by reading these memos and understanding the hopelessness of old style capitalism.

And you would say all that KNOWING full well that socialism has never worked anywhere it has ever been tried. And you did tell us on this sight that you had a business, created jobs, and then sold it. Was that not capitalism in action - or did you create a business and allow all the customers to have free products? Were you in business to make a profit, or just to do charity work? When you sold the business, did you give the wealth to the employees? And since we supposedly do not have a dictator at our helm, it is none of his damn business or right to lead this country in a failed direction. This president talks endlessly about creating jobs but never gets around to making it happen. But community organizers know that anyone who gets involved in activist efforts donates their time and services. Unfortunately, a country can not run in such a manner. The hopelessness we are experiencing is economic collapse at the hands and workings of a lunatic!

The capitalism you speak of (and of course the socialism you speak of) neither one works NOW. Only new still redistribution of wealth can work. Command style economy-socialism will not work. laissez faire capitalism will not work either. Please take the time to read that link, even if you disagree with everything it says, it will give you a better idea of my thinking on this subject. And, odd as it may seem to you, I was not in business for profit, I was in business for pleasure. I opened because it made me happy to serve people, and yes I sold for a profit so there is that, but profit was not my motive, self actualization was. Still given the automation of workforce and the regulation of mining for raw material in the post industrial age the old rules of capitalism no longer apply on a macro scale. Yes, micro capitalism (small business) still works, but it requires redistribution. China has the most robust model right now (economically) with private ownership at the micro level and socialized industry and massive redistribution of wealth to the undeveloped rural areas via subsidizes a development districts. Obama is the most enlightened president since Jimmy Carter and is being (as Cater was) pounded down by fiscal conservative who do not or cannot see the writing on the wall. His hamstrung efforts to socialize the economy are the only thing that prevented a worldwide economic collapse after Cheney and (his buddies) finished gutting the US and middle Eastern economies.

So you don't have any problem with a national leader taking the commonwealth of American citizens and spending it according to his ideology and interests? You have no problem with a man telling a nation that he is going to DO one thing, but then actually doing just the opposite? And everything you speak of regarding economics - are these "beliefs" or just passing thoughts? It will be hard for me to take anything seriously from one who told me he believes nothing.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

Fair enough. and yes I have no problem with anything Obama is doing, or really it is the same as any other president or elected leader does (spending tax dollars according to his ideology and interests? and telling us he is going to DO one thing, but then actually doing just the opposite.) These things (economic principles) make sense to me and I might be wrong. It might be the case that letting the 1% accumulate untold wealth while the poverty rate skyrockets across the planet is actually good for human society. I don't believe unbridled capitalism is the answer, and I don't believe I know the answer. I am willing to bet that redistribution is better than class divide it (class divide) **has never worked anywhere it has ever been tried.** It always results in overthrow of the aristocracy by the commoners. I might be a commoner so I am probably safe, but Robespierre thought he was safe too.

He is clearly creating an environment that is attacking and wiping out the middle class - those who bear the burden and carry the load. With the newest albatross Obamacare, you surely would agree that the nation is rapidly turning in to a part time wage earner environment - something which is quickly killing everything. You can't live on part time wages, and neither can most of America. And yet, that is exactly what is occurring. Notices are being received daily by people from their insurance providers saying that either their coverage is being dropped or increased drastically. The statements Obama made this morning, and the people surrounding him that he said were success examples of the new enrollment was all a big fat lie! But no surprise there. And I would almost bet my left testacle, that if we currently had a Republican president implementing the exact same policies of failure, your statements would be totally opposite what they are now. Obama is still cutting special deals for the 1% that he so vehemently likes to act as if he is against. He has done nothing to stop the wealth of big oil, GM, or the Unions. All continue enjoying free passes and special treatment under his policies. He has also created more class envy and division in this country and around the world than any leader I can remember in my life time. I am not fond of people who divide to conquer.

Well I don't see it that way. I am not surprised that you do. I cannot put the blame for any of what you state squarely on POTUS. I am a bit surprised that so many people think one man could cause this mess or that he could fix it. I might be blind but there are over 537 elected officials in Washington. I don't believe any one of them get the full blame for the mess we are in. The biggest problem from my perspective is party politics.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

Agree about party politics, but still there is a Grand Master or Ringleader, and surely you can agree that this one has wielded more than his share of authority and/or power. What about the most recent comments during the "shutdown" about not budging or negotiating, or not even sitting down and talking with the House? Even a blind man could see that!

When one team does it, it is called fortitude, when the other team does it, it is called stubbornness. It is a silly debate. I have no problem with the way any body does any thing. It is irrelevant in the grand scheme. In 1,000 years it won't matter one bit. Does it matter what the leaders in 1013AD did? Not to me. And in 3013 it won't matter what we did. I enjoy my life, what more could I want? I sought only contentment and I found it. Let the others struggle to achieve meaningless victories. The only thing that matters is: be kind to others and enjoy the time we have on the earth. If someone else wants to worry about who did what to whom and when, let them worry. I feel no need to judge those who take handouts. I am happy to give of my larder to those in need, even if they don't appreciate the gesture. I think those who choose not to share of their fortunes are misguided in what it means to love thy neighbor.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

We obviously have a different world view, and that is ok. But it matters to me, because I am stuck knee deep in the manure pile trying to wade through it! And it better matter to those following us, because they are going to inherit this mess. Your enjoyment of life comment is almost selfish sounding. I am glad and happy for you, but I thought it was all supposed to be about the "other" person - our neighbor. Remember? I thought Obama's whole agenda was to help people like myself and level the playing field. The illegals are getting plenty of help, as is every pregnant woman. The middle and lower classes are being used by Washington's elite as pawns and poker chips. THEY (I being one) are struggling tremendously just to stay afloat. Back in the day, I could run out and get a job any time I wanted it. Today, that simply is NOT so. Choices have been vastly limited, and jobs are scarce. And I don't "judge" those taking the handouts, but I do believe it is not playing by the same rules that everyone else has to play by (another one of Obama's mantras). My disappointment and disapproval lies mainly with the Commander, since he IS where the buck is supposed to stop. So far, there has been no stopping. He has gotten every single thing he pushed for (stimuluses, debt ceiling raises, increased taxes) and he is still a failure. Every thing that he promised WOULD work and turn things around has not. His plans DON'T work now, and they are not going to be working by the time he leaves office. Why? He has no real plan (unless you want to call bankrupting a nation a plan). He lives like royalty while those he serves and supposedly leads suffer. How you can just conveniently "forget" all the things this man has said and not owned is beyond me. One of my most vivid - "I will not rest or sleep until every American that wants a job has one." He has taken countless vacations, and spent like there is no tomorrow - and more Americans are out of work than when he took office. So let's all just smile, hold hands, hug each other, put on our rose colored glasses, and sing "Strawberry Fields Forever." Ah yes, that feels so much better and changes everything!

So let's all just smile, hold hands, hug each other, put on our rose colored glasses, and sing "Strawberry Fields Forever." Ah yes, that feels so much better and changes everything! or we could just moan real loud, punch each other in the face, bitch about everything, sing dirges, ah yes, that sure makes the pain so much more palpable. And I sure like to rub my nose in the stench of life. Attitude is everything.

What's the problem with equality?

by Anonymous 10 years ago

Just gonna say, the two guys on the left are not socialists.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

Define "socialism" and explain how Obama is bringing us to socialism.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

If you don't already know, what would be the point? I should not have to explain to you what you need to know so you can dialogue or debate with me.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

I already know what socialism is. It doesn't seem like you do.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

OK...I just make posts for the hell of it with big words! What a joke.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

It seems you are using sarcasm to ignore the question.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

I use sarcasm to insult ignorance. My choice and my words.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

For which you will not give your definition. Why do you think that Obama wants socialism, in which the workers take control over the means of production? Is it the fact that he gave trillions to private banks or the fact that he wants us all to buy from profit-driven insurance companies?
