Haven't you ever watched The Price Is Right??? ALWAYS get you pets spayed or neutered. Controlling domestic pet population is better than having people leave the litter on the side of the road, or throw them off a bridge in a bag. Come on.

My family has a rottweiler that was given to us, and she was already neutered. She's a guard dog, and I guess the previous owner didn't want stray dogs getting her pregnant.

Pet's are nice and one is enough. Overpopulation is one issue, as is personality changes associated with normal seasonal (hormonal) cycles. Neutering resolves these issue and allows us to enjoy our pets and them to enjoy a comfortable life devoid of discomforts of mating rituals, e.g, marking territory, seeking mates (caterwauling/howling/scenting/heating), dominance displaying (fighting/hunting/digging/scatting), etc.

I had a chicken for a day but my family members ate her I still eat chicken though ....................................... I had a few goldfish my first real pet was a fish I wanted to name him/her Ojay Banana Bananza and my brother wanted to name the fish TJ so we compromised and named the fish //Ojay Banana Banaza/TJ// til this day I still remember that name OBB/TJ was a real fighter lasted much longer than I thought never figured out the gender followed Dory's school of thought: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxB_TemN1pc I can't hear the video at the moment so if the video has been fan dubbed I am unaware

I don't agree with the statement: if you can't handle your pet's babies don't have a pet then ya bubkis. Raising your pet's babies would take much more effort than simply owning a pet. It would prohibit many from owning a pet at all... But you know that, and are all prepared with a counter-argument, right?

uhh no I wasn't prepared ._. I also said I might be missing something so I totally saved myself by saying that I'll pull something out though if it is too much work with the babies wouldn't it just be nicer to leave your pet alone?

My bad. Although in the OP you referenced "pets", I'm thinking mainly of cats and dogs. So when I say "pets" below, please read either cats or dogs... If people just left their pets alone, they (the pets) would mate and produce babies. I'm not sure that would be any nicer. Many would decide to not have a pet in the first place, so the demand for pets would be way down. I don't think you'd be able to give them away. That would leave the people would who did allow their pets to reproduce in a lurch. They would either need to A) let the babies grow up and eventually become feral, B) send the babies off somewhere to be "destroyed", or C) some third thing I am not thinking of now.

I have two dogs and three cats that are all fixed. My elderly cat and dog were fixed quite late. For the dog, I think it was health reasons, for my cat, she had already had three or four litters and she was really annoying when she went into heat and it sounded kinda painful. Other two cats were fosters and we adopted them already fixed. Honestly if they weren't and they tried to mount my old cat they would probably die a horrible, bloody death. My other dog was fixed really early because we just did it.

My cat is perfectly fine, she's just old and grumpy and attacks the other two as it is. If they tried to mount her, she would probably try to kill them.

There is a huge overpopulation problem with animals, cats especially. For example, about five stray cats live behind my house right now. The reason why there are so many stray cats is because people allow them to go outside without being neutered, meaning that some cat is getting pregnant. It's not that hard to take care of 1 cat, but 5 is a bit hard for anyone. Because many people can't handle that many cats, they get abandoned on the side of the road, thrown off a bridge, or other horrible things are done to get rid of them. Stray cats are so common because people clearly can't take care of them, meaning that these cats will probably have a horrible life. All this could be prevented if these cats couldn't produce all those kittens. If you think about it in terms of people, nobody has a problem with people getting a vasectomy or their tubes tied, because their potential children don't exist, meaning that there is no loss. There is no real benefit to cats having babies because a cat's owner is the true person taking care of them. If the owner isn't happy, all involved cats needlessly suffer. And two things: In case you were wondering, there is someone taking care of the cats behind my house. They were there before I moved in, and look healthy. Someone comes to feed them daily. I'm only talking about cats because I don't know about the problems for dogs or other domestic animals. I just know this to be true for cats.

no I don't feel sad eating meat because I eat meat that has been killed in a way that the animal doesn't feel pain it's a part of survival neutering your pets is done because you want to have a companion but you don't wanna handle too many of them it's not survival animals in nature eat other animals regularly but I don't' think they regularly take away reproductive rights Lions eat deer but they don't take away reproductive rights usually so I would say that's a terrible comparison ______________________________ so when I bring up this topic of meat consumption on another post you say something like **"I thought I said I don't want to talk about this with you again"** yet you can bring up this topic even when the post isn't about eating meat?

I only agreed because I knew someone who got their cat an abortion because they couldn't handle the babies, however I am in support of spaying/neutering. I have had cats who have had many many litters and it is hell on wheels. Yeah, it's sad regardless, but a necessity in some occasions.

no it is not sad it is the right thing to do when shelters are so full they have to euthanize for space and it is not sad because spaying and neutering your pets makes them healthier in the long run so no it is not sad at all!
