+19 It's ridiculous how quite a few billionaires have rejected the 'The Giving Pledge'. Like what the heck are they going do with all that money, amirite?

They have no reason to sign this pledge, it is a constraint with almost no gain. They can still give to charity, even more than half their wealth if they want to.

Good point. Though the point of the pledge is to inspire others to give. And the "pledge is a moral commitment to give, not a legal contract".

a moral commitment is still an obligation to a certain extent (would be useless otherwise), but I agree it is much less of a trouble if you can dismiss it with a very good reason. As for your second point, I agree, didn't thought of this effect it could have had... too bad it didn't work much...
