+21 We shouldn't regret anything. The things we decided to do set us down a path, and that path and decisions make us who we are, amirite?

It also build up to where you are now. Without those 'regrets' you won't learn

I'm not saying that these decisions didn't make us who we are, but what if we don't like certain aspects of who we are? Then we should regret the decisions that made us that way.

I agree that our experiences shape who we are. However, I can't buy into the "we shouldn't regret anything" statement. Even if you love who you are right now, it's not inconsistent to feel remorse for some of the things you did (or didn't do) in the past. I would change a few things in my past if I could go back. I accept that it might change who I am now.

There are many things one might come to regret, and we should. If we never felt regret, would we really learn from our mistakes?

You might want to regret hurting someone in any way, or killing a person with no just reason. And I wholeheartedly disagree that everything (including bad things) was once something that I would want.

I doubt murderers in prison for life agree with this.

I regret things, but acknowledge I can't change it and dont dwell on it.
