+76 We need more specialist in the US government. For example, when making decisions about education in the US, we should involve teachers parents principals and students. Not just a bunch of people with political science majors. Amirite?

What does a politician know except politics? And I sometimes think that most of them need to return to school.

I see your point, OP, but the role of a political science major comes into play by representing others. In this case, it means representing the specialists. It would be impossible to involve every single teacher, parent, principal, or student. And frankly, when it comes to politics, the only thing that matters is how effective the poli sci major can persuade and motivate. It's kind of a fact of life. You can be the most logical person in the world, but when it comes to persuasion or moving others, logic isn't a top priority.

It always made me mad that a bunch of people who haven't attended an actual public school in decades made decisions for those that currently attend. Doesn't make much sense in my book.
