-52 It's pretty stupid that "not letting yourself be arrested" (aka "resisting" arrest) is a crime, amirite?

by Anonymous 6 years ago

Dang, who knew there were so many perfect, law-abiding citizens here? Good for you guys............

I see where you're coming from. I think you're case should be against police and government corruption instead, that's the underlying cause of your grief i would suppose. The police are meant to be incorrupt meaning if they are arresting someone it is for good cause. If you don't trust that it's good cause then it's the corruption you ought to be fighting against not just the one aspect of resisting arrest....just my thoughts.

Yeah, well I AM against police corruption. Very much so. I just hate the fact that not letting yourself be kidnapped is illegal. It's also very abused. "of course I had to beat/taze/shoot/kill them! They were resisting arrest!" Not that the scumbags needs an actual reason to murder citizens anymore, though.....

by Anonymous 9 years ago

This isn't "1984" you aren't being kidnapped you're being arrested for acting against societies standards. I sure don't want people acting against societies set standards to be allowed say "whatever, i do what i want" and just bail at their own will.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

yeah,ok........ because cops NEVER abuse their power, right? You need to get a clue, sorry.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

Oh i thought we were talking solely about resisting arrest since that's the sole topic of your post. Again. If you want to talk about corruption then that's a whole 'nother canof worms. Pff..."get a clue" i had to laugh.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

don't do anything you might get arrested for and you got no worries..and if you do, just be polite and do as your told.. No problem..

by Anonymous 8 years ago

you have no clue what you are talking about.

by Anonymous 8 years ago

I see you have never been Police officer also.. sure there are those that abuse the power.. take care of them, leave the good ones out of the equation, the bad ones are the minority.. You don't have a clue what you are talking about...LMAO

by Anonymous 8 years ago

yes i do. and I am tired of hearing about these magical "good cops" Fucking find them then. Cops I read about treat it like open season on men, women, children, and animals. And they fucking get away with it. It is not really funny at all.

Trish: What would would you propose that we allow?

by Anonymous 9 years ago

Having a society where cops can't steal and kill citizens on a whim, maybe?

by Anonymous 9 years ago

I thought you were talking about arrest. Did you mean to say its stupid to have cops steal and kill citizens on a whim? no News Flash: That's already illegal.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

You think so? Eric Garner and many many many others would disagree with you.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

"You're under arrest for resisting arrest."

by Anonymous 9 years ago

"And don't you try resisting //that//!"

by Anonymous 9 years ago

Yes. I vote never arrest anyone. No laws No cops No judges

by Anonymous 9 years ago

no. Its justified. you have to submit

by Anonymous 9 years ago

Who wants to be arrested?......wait, don't answer that.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

It is called resisting for a reason, and if they have enough to arrest you than the evidence is pretty good. If you go peacefully bail is usually lower.

by Anonymous 8 years ago

you are so very naive and misinformed.wake up.

by Anonymous 8 years ago

No. If they did the crime, they should do the time. Simple.

by Anonymous 8 years ago

Not really, basically if you don't listen/follow the law, then it's a crime. The same is true for not following laws passed by congress, a ruling passed down form a judge, not following the tax laws... it's all basically the same, listen or read and follow it, or you have commited a crime. If law enforcement says something it's the same way, if you don't listen then you've commited a crime. So I guess it's stupid as any other compliance law, but I think most places rules/laws are built on compliance laws.

I've been stopped late at night at sobriety checkpoints like on New Years Eve. The cop asked me how much I had to drink. I told him none, because I hadn't had a drink. They wave me on and tell me to have a good night. If they do this, and get a few drunk drivers off the road, I'm all for it. If I was stopped because my brake lights weren't working, I wouldn't argue with the cop. I'd get them fixed. (My car, my responsibility) If a store nearby had just been robbed by a white guy in a blue Ford Focus and I was a white guy in a blue Ford Focus, I wouldn't have a problem being checked out. (If I didn't rob the store, I wouldn't run and try to resist arrest.) It seems to me that many of the people who are so opposed to cops, and their dealings with criminals, must have been on the wrong side of an encounter with them. If you commit a crime, be it robbery, or even speeding, accept the consequences, and stop whining "Poor me. I'm oppressed."

It's a deterent for those told to stop and drop - the easier the suspect makes things for the officer, the better chance that'll be a consideration when they get to court, maybe(?)

by Anonymous 6 years ago

If it weren't a crime, would ANYBODY allow themselves to be arrested? And if they don't, they put other people in danger.
