+322 Most music these days is waaaaaaay too polished. It would sound better if it was more raw and natural sounding instead of studio-perfected, generic-sounding, white-washed plastic in super duper high definition, amirite?

you're listening to the wrong kind of music, most of the music i listen to isn't like it and its not like classical or anything

I was referring to mainstream music, not the music I listen to. Although the super-clean sound does work for some bands, like Supreme Beings of Leisure. :)

Most music nowadays is listened to in mp3 format, and that is actually very crappy, so its not 'super duper high definition'

I think calling it "crappy" would be a bit hyperbolic, but then again I'm no audiophile (I can't afford to be, but I would if I could). And don't forget, some people still buy CDs, which are not MP3 format. In any case, I was talking more about production costs and such. A good band can make better sounding music in their garage -- or even in their room with a MacBook and some MIDI instruments. :P

Yah! Because a lot of the music I want to listen to, i only listen to because i either love the person's OWN voice, or the lyrics of the song. Example: Dallas Green/City and Colour. His voice is never edited, and it's beautiful.

Try not listening to mainstream.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't. At least not the current mainstream.

I agree totally
