I've heard some (new to me) artists during this century, that I thought were very good. Probably as good as the music artists I think are incomparable, to someone else. I still think you're right, though. :)
Dark Sarah are a current group I like.
Saw a sixties legends concerts last night.Bunch of 70+ year olds performing brilliantly. You are right.
Your taste in music depends mostly on when you were a teenager. A band leader will memorize all the hit songs for each year. He only needs to memorize two or three hits per year. Then he guesses what year his audience turned 18 and plays hits from that year. Quite often a couple in the audience will say that he picked "their" song, the one they fell in love to.
"Modern" music only means what the current crop of teenagers listens to. In this business a generation is only 4 to 5 years, and the only rule is the music has almost no resemblance to what was popular before it.
Nah, there's so much good music being made now and its never been more accessible. I do love the classics too and a lot of the top radio songs today are garbage but theres still a lot of stuff from the last 2 decades that are just as good.
it is incredibly rare that a radio station to play anything good, they play the top 40 garbage. the odd one will be mediocre at best. there is talent out there but radio does not play it.
thats because back in the day you HAD to be able to sing or play an instrument to get anywhere, now all you need is 3 lines of nothing lyrics, a computer and the right contacts, and bam famous. not a single ounce of talent required!
there are bands singers today that are very talented, but they generally don;t get famous.
Nah. As a fan of rock, and music in general I’m quite pleased with a lot of new bands. Sure I was a huge fan of the Doors, Janice Joplin, Steppenwolf, countless others who were created in the 60s and 70s. The 80’s for me were all about Simple minds, Pink Floyd (again) INXS, Grateful Dead,Tears for Fears, Motley Crue, Metallica... the Nineties was all about Green Day, Tom Petty, NIN. The 00s were all about Disturbed, The Birthday Massacre, FFDP. I think the new stuff I reallly like is a distorted evolutionary amalgamation of everything that was and still is good.
