boiling lava and liquid nitrogen feel the same when you are dunked in them. the sensation is that of every cell in your body explosively dying rapidly as you are dunked.

So cold it feels like it's burning you, sure. I'm positive I've never touched something really hot and gone "Golly gee, this feels cold!"
