Cats are more emotionally attached to their owner than dogs, they just don't show it in the same way.

I was a road warrior for many years - my cat got mad every time she saw the suitcase. When I'd get back home and call her, she'd coming running 'talking' to me the whole time.

My cats like me because I feed them lol. They are not exactly lap cats, they are cuddly but they don't feel the need to sleep or walk on people.
