Universal healthcare just might have helped with covid-19. amirite?
Not that the admin. didn't drop the ball and isn't still sending the wrong message but the fact is we're screwed. It's a little different than the 15 cases that were "contained" 2 months ago when everyone but the admin knew serious action was required. But they dragged their feet and downplayed reality. Now they're patting themselves on the back for a too little, too late response.
The US is now the epicenter of the pandemic and it's going to get worse. Over 1,700 people have died and a lot more will die because sick people can't afford to go to the doctor or get tested. One woman got a bill for over $4,000 just for being tested. Even people who have insurance can't handle the huge deductible.
Isn't private healthcare great?
At least one hospital had to rent a refrigerated truck to stack the corpses in.
South Korea and the US announced their first case on the same day. As of Mar. 8 South Korea has tested 3,692 people per million while the US has tested 5. Do you think there might be more sick people out there?
Our response to this emergency has been, at best, pitiful and it's exposing some of the flaws in our insane economic system. Capitalism isn't just killing people, it's killing the country. Do you still think we can't afford Universal healthcare?
Are we awake yet?
