Oh, you bet it can. Years ago, hit my thumb nail on my steering wheel. Fortunately, I was close to a pharmacy - walked in holding my bleeding thumb, couldn't say a word. Just showed it to the pharmacist, who immediately also didn't say a word, but got me fixed up. Nice guy didn't charge me anything for the supplies he used. Hurt like heck for DAYS.
