20 $ is 20$

Loyalty doesn't have to come free. I'm loyal to the company I work for. They've invested in me long enough that if for a few months they say they have to cut our pay or we work without pay till the company recovers I would agree till the position became untenable. I would do so in the hope that when the company recovers I would be paid with arrears or a raise. Nobody does something for nothing. Even Samurai had a salary. They were more loyal to their shoguns than the soldiers of today.

You can be loyal to money and to yourself. So you're still loyal, just not to your standards.
