the only way to get rid of racism is to STOP talking about it. amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
BEST thing I've heard all day!
by Anonymous13 years ago
How? It's not even true
by Anonymous13 years ago
actually, there will still be racism, just no one will say it, which in its o own ways could be worse than having it open. If people say it then it's out in the open, and people can judge them, but if they don't they think that it's perfectly acceptable, and could go to extremes.
by Anonymous13 years ago
We just want racism to be like hair color: Everyone has a different color, there are just a few jokes about different hair colors meaning a different thing, but in all reality hair color doesn't make a person any different from you.
I hope for a day when the color of your skin is as insignificant as the color of your hair.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's probably the best example I've ever heard.
by Anonymous13 years ago
no body is born a racist, it is learned. if people stop talking about racism now even if they may be secretly racist their children wont be
by Anonymous13 years ago
yah, but not everything learned is learned from another person, when somebody is growing up they could see something bad happen to a friend that was done by a black person, and from then on they hate black people, and therefore are racist
by Anonymous13 years ago
You just talked about it...
by Anonymous13 years ago
It had to be said
by Anonymous13 years ago
that's kind of the point. some things have to be said. sweep them under the rug and they get worse.
by Anonymous13 years ago
smartass
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yepyep, I guess I am. But it feels good doesn't it?
by Anonymous13 years ago
We could also rid racism by having only one race: a mixture of all.
by Anonymous13 years ago
"WE DON'T MIX PAINT."
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not saying thats bad or anything, but IMO that would destroy culture
by Anonymous13 years ago
Refraining from talking about it will not solve anything. Imagine if Martin Luther King Jr. had decided to "stop talking about it".
by Anonymous13 years ago
I HAD A DREAM... which I will not discuss.
by Anonymous13 years ago
yeah... it would be pretty awkward to talk about the wet dream that he had in front of millions of people...
oh, oh, OHH
you mean THAT dream!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Morgan Freeman said that(:
by Anonymous13 years ago
People were created differently as Allah wanted it to be. Different races are supposed to be here, and you can't stop racism, it's kind of natural.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're Muslim? For some reason I find that awesome.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's because you're racist
by Anonymous13 years ago
Reptar was always Muslim.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Please tell me you didn't just indirectly say that Allah created racism.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I think he's just saying that Allah wanted everyone to be different, and that's it's humans' fault for only focusing on the differences.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's what I was hoping. Thanks for clarifying it for me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're speaking English, why not just say God? I don't call God, God in my native language, but when I'm speaking English I do, what's the point in using Allah? Just to seem different? To draw attention to yourself?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Then maybe you should start calling your god what you want to call him. No one goes around telling people to call god "god" just because they speak English...except maybe you.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But no one would understand... if I start replacing random words with foreign languages that no one gets, it only makes it that much harder to communicate.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Allah and God are the same. Why does it matter?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Exactly, why does he just say God? If I'm talking to you in one language, then I'll speak to you in one language, I won't throw in words from the 5 languages I know, just to show off my broad knowledge of languages.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because maybe that's the way he's used to saying it? Or it just seems more reverent.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's probably the best argument I've heard. But it's like people who come to America and get upset people call football soccer. Get over it, you're in America now and it's called soccer. When you're in whatever country you come from you can say football and no one would get confused. It's really not that hard, I was used to calling soccer, football and God another word, I can't even spell in English, but when I came here and I'm speaking to Americans, I use their tradition and customs. I don't try to force my cultures on everyone else, like this guy/girl
by Anonymous13 years ago
Who says they're trying to force their culture on everyone else? If I said "chutzpah" or "Shabbos" or "matzah" in a post, I'm not trying to force my culture on anyone. It's just how I know it. Chutzpah is disrespect, Shabbos is the day of rest, and matzah is unleavened bread. And Allah is how Muslims say God.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah, but you're expecting others to know something about your religion/culture, that they have no need for. I mean Allah is more common, but if you said those things in one sentence with someone, it would just make you sound extremely pretentious.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Or that these are the words I was brought up on, if they're so inclined to think kindly. And a lot of people know all the words I said. There are a lot that don't, admittedly, but there are still a lot that do.
by Anonymous13 years ago
So why take the chance? Do you enjoy making people look stupid? Exposing others ignorance, is something you might fancy? A lot of people know calculus, but I'm not going to go around quizzing everyone on it. Why? It's just common courtesy. As a fellow human, I realize you might not know everything about everything, so I'll make your job easier and not use language you may not know.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Maybe Allah has different connotations.
When you say god, I just when i think of god, i thik of Christianity. Why should people be refrained from declaring their religion? in order to fit into the social norms of what that "culture" is? Thats kind of forcing him to say whatever way satisfies u more
by Anonymous13 years ago
No... It's just in my everyday language. I don't do it for any reason concerning the other person's lack of knowledge about what the words mean. I just say it. Like people who read a lot might use expressions and words that people who don't read a lot might not know. Not all of them do it to sound pretentious, some do it just because that's what they're used to. It's the words and expressions they use when they think, and it just comes out in their speech unconsciously.
And can I point out we've gotten completely off track?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah and I'm also losing interest. I'm leaving now to go watch porn. However you do make a good point and if I continue arguing, it will only make me look like more of an asshole :]
by Anonymous13 years ago
...Thank you for letting me know. o_O
Eh, you didn't seem like /too/ much of an asshole... :P
by Anonymous13 years ago
I thought you should know, you know (oh it's also gay porn btw... it's not just any run of the mill porn) I just don't want you to think you're a boring person or anything. How can anyone compete against it? Naa mean? On a more serious note though, I'm getting like a hundred notifications and I can't argue with everyone so I'm just like, I'll just stop here. Besides all these thumbs downs aren't helping me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Wait, you're gay? (Not hating... Just surprised.)
I'm not likely to think I'm a boring person. ;) But it's nice to know that I don't win over gay porn. Alas... Sex. (/jokingsarcasm)
WIN. :D
by Anonymous13 years ago
Religion isn't regulated by language, anyways. In Islam, at no point was it acceptable to call Allah by any other names. His name is Allah, not God. Jesus' name is Jesus, not John. In common decency, if you want to know what something means, simply ask.
by Anonymous13 years ago
No, because Allah's name is Allah no matter what language.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That would mean that Allah isn't God, but another god. So the equivocation that Allah and God are the same would be wrong. Are you saying that Allah and God aren't the same cosmic beings?
by Anonymous13 years ago
No, it's just that His name is Allah, and I refer to Him as so. In Islam, Allah has no family or relatives, and in Christianity, I think he does. Anyways. We don't call Him God because in our religion, His name is different, and he doesn't have parents, a wife, or children.
by Anonymous13 years ago
So He's not the same being.
by Anonymous13 years ago
How can you get everybody in the world to stop talking about something?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Exactly. OP never said racism could or would end, s/he just said a way to make it end. Doesn't mean it's probable or possible, it's just a way.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I would be impressed if everyone stopped talking about racism.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The only way to stop racism is by making one race
by Anonymous13 years ago
The human race(:
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're right. It's time we holocaust the other animals.
by Anonymous13 years ago
HEY! My posts contribute just as much as yours!
by Anonymous13 years ago
No one will stop talking about it; how can you start a movement about that? Like they everyone, here's the cause but shhh keep it down. That would be ignoring the problem. We need to educate, teach our kids growing up how they are all created equal.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's like how making drugs and stuff illegal doesn't make it go away, it just drives it underground.
by Anonymous13 years ago
exactly. My friend from the south moved up to michigan and said at least in the south, you know who hates you because they make it obvious. But everyone up here comes off okay and you have to find out later that they're hating on him
by Anonymous13 years ago
You know, even if racism completely stopped, people would probably just move on to a different way to discriminate. Like sexism. Humans are, by nature, judgemental and often hateful.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But..you're talking about it now..
by Anonymous13 years ago
stop talking about what?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Raci-I mean...racquetball.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It would never really stop racism will it? Instead, not talking about it forms a mask. People will still feel the way they do towards a race, they just won't preach it on the side of the road with signs saying "Honk for the white people of the world"
by Anonymous13 years ago
With this logic, the only way to get rid of cavities is by not treating it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
sorta...but talking its the cause of racism (or at least how it spreads) so based on that, cutting out sugar would be the fix to your cavity analogy.
by Anonymous13 years ago
RACISM RACISM RACISM RACISM RACISM....there now all the douchebaggery is out of my system
by Anonymous13 years ago
ignore the problem, it'll go away.
that's the spirit!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Ignorance is bliss! :P but only for so long...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I prefer the "hyjack the minds of all humanity and force them into submission" option.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Or just kill all races but whites, no racism then
by Anonymous13 years ago
White people aren't the only racist race.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Agreed! i can't tell you how many times I am called a white cracker at school each week.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I never said they were
@1173502 (sassypieann): I don't get how cracker should be offensive. Typical black people, can't even come up with a good insulting term
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't see how you don't think saying that killing the white race to get rid of racism doesn't say that the white race is the only racist race.
And it's offensive because it's bringing up what a bunch of holier-than-thou douchebags did and saying we're just like them because we happen to have their skin color.
by Anonymous13 years ago
wow this is retarded.if you stop talking about it it will only make it more easily spread and acceptable.you know why human trafficking hasn't been stopped, why its still alive and strong? because ppl don't talk about it, hell most people don't know about it. why? cause ppl don't talk about it. idk why ppl think its a good idea to just sweep stuff under the rug and forget it.i know especially today, a lot of ppl are getting tired of racism and just want ppl to stop bringing it up.and while that wouldn't be a horrible thing, ppl are getting more and more tolerant of small things that can be considered racist, and ppl who call those small things out are considered too sensitive.but small things turn to bigger things then bigger.the truth is racism isn't going away, if we stay strict about it,even if that's annoying, we are making it clear that its not ok .for all races.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The irony of this post and its comments is unbearable.
by Anonymous13 years ago
this is a morgan freeman quote
by Anonymous13 years ago
ya ikr like when you're not noticing it then you know you're not racist
by Anonymous13 years ago
We NEED to talk about racism in order to teach future generations about its negative effects. Otherwise, the ignorance and prejudice will just continue.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Damn jews...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Dude... Not funny.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Actually there are many ways to get rid of racism. Another would be to get rid of every race
by Anonymous13 years ago
Or you could just kill all humans, that's one solution.
by Anonymous13 years ago

by Anonymous13 years ago
lol @ anonymous OP... :P
Nobody mentioned it in sea of debate...
Right well, um, my view on subject: I think they/Morgan Freeman were talking about things like the highest rated post of all time (OF ALL TIME) which says you should be able to say "he is the black guy" without someone coming in and saying, "THAT'S RACIST! RAWRG!" If people stopped talking about it, it wouldn't be racist, but since they do, then everyone's thinking about racism when it doesn't have to be racist... So yeah.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's what I've been saying all the time... Same goes for homosexuality.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Homosexuality or homophobia?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Homophobia
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not talking about racism isn't going to make it go away. I'm pretty sure people were content to 'not talk about racism' before the Civil Rights Movement. Nobody was going 'this is racist! but it's totally cool'. People were most likely saying, 'this is just the way things are. and I'm not racist... I just like when we're separate."
.
Yeah it makes people uncomfortable but that doesn't mean we just stop. This is STILL an issue, people. I'm not talking about just black/white. As long as there are hate crimes/discrimination against a certain race/ethnicity/sexual orientation prejudice will always need to be addressed. What we NEED to do is take a second and THINK about what we're calling racist, sexist or homophobic.
.
It's like the boy who cried wolf. If a person is shouting 'racist' every two minutes is anyone going to believe him when it really goes down?
.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't think the world can ever completely stop talking about racism. There are definitely some people who would still think about it and discriminate, even if they never mention it. But there are certain places where we shouldn't talk about it. For instance, imagine a world where there was a Republican presidential candidate and a Democratic candidate and their races were never mentioned in the media.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Oh I get it, I guess then the only way to get rid of world hunger is to stop feeding people!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Believe it or not, providing a solution to a problem does not suggest it is the answer to every problem. It's like the problem of stopping me. The answer is invading Germany. That does not mean the answer to ending world hunger is by invading Germany
by Anonymous13 years ago
everyone who disagreed is a racist who voted down because Morgan Freeman said it
by Anonymous13 years ago
That or we disagree with what was said, but you're probably right we couldn't possibly disagree with a post because we disagree with it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
but the only explaination for anyone possibly disagreeing with Morgan Freeman is that they're racist!
by Anonymous13 years ago

Morgan Freeman trumps old, pre-set image macros, always!
by Anonymous13 years ago
The only way to end world hunger, is to stop talking about it, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
eight hundred and thirty-three ppl.eight hundred and thirty-three.if this is how our generations thinking then i am sooooooooooo afraid.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't think its a matter of ignoring the problem or not. There's always going to be ignorant people in his world who feel the need to say bad things about an ethnic group.
It might become less occurring over time, but I think it will always be there.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Guys, the post is actually really clever. If we make it so that race is a non-issue, our children will grow up believing that race is a non-issue. Sure they will find other traits to discriminate against, but racial prejudices will no longer exist.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You can't "get rid" of racism... Racism is an idea. Once it came up - under any name - it will always exist.
Like unicorns.
...Just saying.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't know.... It almost seems like our society highlights different races. For example, a teacher at my school is very against racism and so we spent a week learning about influencial black people in history during black history month (and she was a spanish teacher mind you). I think that it dosnt matter what race you are, we should learn about influencial AMERICANS or EUROPEANS. Bringing attention to the races, i think, kinda highlights that people are different wich is regressive in the current world were we are supposed to be "integrating" our world.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Peole need to stop rehashing the same arguements about ignoring the problem won't solve it. The post didn't say stop standing up for civil rights or just ignore anything racist, it meant that people need to stop making everything about race that doesn't pertain to it in the least. College apps are a good example. The colleges shouldn't care what race you are. They shouldn't ask. I get they want to seem accepting by specifically accepting people of all races to have good ethnic breakdown statistics when they pitch their school, but if they stopped worrying about race an worried about whether students ere qualified etc., it would be a real evaluation of a prospective student.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The post says to shut up about it... so SHUT UP!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Remember that we don't want to get rid of race entirely. I like being the color that I am. That should be okay. It should be alright to bring up race without having to be weary or defensive. What we're trying to eliminate is the negative or superior connotations that come with race.
