Yep or what goes into actually legally purchasing one in a greater detail

Now do "people who want to make economic policy but think everything they don't like is communism"

I would say most people wanting stricter gun laws at this point don't understand that we all need guns now that the assholes have stockpiled massive amounts of guns and ammo.

Go get em while you still can, folks.

You don't need to know what people need to do before getting full auto-guns. It's something no one privately needs to own, I mean you can have a hunting rifle but you don't need anything automatic

@Openeyes You don't need to know what people need to do before getting full auto-guns. It's something no one privately needs...

I, too, am keenly interested in information regarding shootings where someone used "full auto-guns." Last I checked, there were a few thousand privately owned, functional, select fire weapons. All of which are valued in the 5 to 6 digit range and require special forms and a tax stamp along with a nearly year long process to transfer one.

Or are you also the kind of person that would try to tell a detective how to do their job because you've watched two seasons of Law & Order?

Right to bear arms is for the bears

That's like saying most people who want heroin banned have never tried it. Dumb argument.

@Shiny244 That's like saying most people who want heroin banned have never tried it. Dumb argument.

Not really. 9/10 people have absolutely no clue about the gun control that's already in place

@Mytokhondria If your saying 9/10 people want guns banned you've lost the debate.

That's not what I said. I said 9 out of 10 people don't know about the gun control already in place. Reread it again if you need to

What's most annoying to me is the use of the phrase "assault weapon" over and over again with no explanation of what they are trying to define as an "assault weapon".

I still have no clue what type of actual gun the shooter in the Denver shooting used as all I've heard over the last two days is that the 21 year old bought an assault weapon on march 15th (or whatever date) and "we don't know if it was purchased legally or not." If you know what date he bought the gun on....I guarantee he bought it legally. But no explanation as to what they are calling an assault weapon.

The text of HR 127 defines a "military-style weapon". Go read that first and come back when your head reaches room temperature

You can know that gun laws are not strict enough without actually exactly knowing them. Just look at how many mass shootings happen in the US

This is what we call jumping to conclusions. It's important that we understand the root cause of these repeated events in order to avoid unintentionally making the situation worse. The gun laws not being strict enough is one potential option. Another would be that maybe there is some sort of mass mental health problems which aren't being addressed. What are the common trends between all these shootings? We need all the data to make the right moves before more lives are lost

I would disagree. Countries like Mexico and South Africa have very restrictive gun laws, this has done little to lower the murder rate. Gun regulation is part of the issue, but better education, welfare and healthcare are equally as important. I feel politicians prefer to target solutions that cost less, not ones that are likely to be more effective.

Ahh yes, comparing the problems of third world countries to that of a first world country. Seems fair to me.

Australia has restrictive gun laws, and I honestly never even consider that getting shot is even a possibility unless I go nuts and charge a cop or something - which I'm not exactly keen on doing. All my friends that want guns have them, and they're responsible owners.

When I see a gun out in public (like in a cops holster standing in line for some nuggies) it makes me feel strange. I'd hate to live somewhere where seeing guns daily is normal, unless you live on a farm or something.

But the media says "guns bad" and they wouldn't try to push an agenda would they?

Or how they operate.
